Typically used in manufacturing, assembling, and servicing steam or pressure equipment, turbines, and hydraulic presses, bolt heaters are essential when a high concentration of heat is required for optimal bolt expansion over a brief amount of time.

Applying heat causes bolts to expand quickly, allowing for the tightening or loosening of nuts with very little resulting thread friction. Using bolt heaters helps to give equipment components greater longevity by preventing thread galling caused by stress. Perhaps best of all, bolt heaters make stretching bolts a fixed amount, in keeping with the manufacturer's instructions, quite easy.
